We had used an issue type that I'd like to delete. Unfortunately there is one issue left which I am not allowed to see. The issue type is assigned to a frequently used schema, so I have no idea which project this issue belongs to.
Is there a way to find out? Could it be an archived or trashed project?
Hi Frank,
Issuetypes can be "held" tight by archived projects, similar to workflow statuses.
You should de-archive the culprit, then assign a different issuetype scheme (or modify the heavily used scheme), and then re-archive it.
Suggestion for workflows: Make a workflow that only holds status "Done" and change the workflow of a project to that, prior to archiving.
Happy cleaning,
Dick
Hi Dick,
Thanks for pointing this out. My learning so far:

Hi Frank,
I suggest you try the Revyz Configuration Manager for Jira app. You can do a free trial for it, but I think it will show you want you want.

Hi John,
Sorry for not responding, cleanup has been deprioritised. Thanks for your suggestion, I installed Revyz Configuration Manager today. Unfortunately it doesn't tell me why it fails when I try to delete an issue type.
Revyz Configuration Manager seems to be of little value without Revyz Data Manager for Jira or Premium Tier (only mentioned in blocked features, found it nowhere in the description).
