Automate Issue closing

I wanted to see if we can automate closing of an issue (let say BUG) belonging to a project if its in particular status (let says BLOCKED) for more than 1 week.

I do this without the use of an addon by creating an SLA for the target transition. 

After the SLA breaches, then I use the automation tool to close the issue (we also add a comment)

**Start Criteria is the entry into the 'Blocked' status in your case, then however many hours you want to commit to it being in that status. 

**End Criteria would be entry into closed/resolved/other live statuses

I think, you should use a plugin for it like Power Scripts, ScriptRunner, Automation For Jira, Worflow Toolbox and so on.
