Hi everyone
When I create new issue types from an epic I want two fields to have their values copied to these daughter issues when they are created, one field is native to Jira and the other is a custom field, how could I do this? Here is my automation and how I was trying to do it
Hello @André Felipe Rodrigues Lopes
Do I understand correctly that you want this action to occur when the daughter issue is created?
If so, then your rule structure is incorrect.
The triggering issue will be the child issue, so use of the For Each Children branch is incorrect.
What you need is a rule like this:
1. Rule is triggered when a new issue is created.
2. Confirm that the newly created issue is of an Issue Type that could be a child of an Epic.
3. Confirm that the newly created issue has actually been made a child of an Epic by checking if a Parent exists for it.
4. Use an Edit Issue action to update the newly created issue. You can update multiple fields in a single Edit Issue action.
You would select the fields you want to update from the field list.
After selecting the fields, click the ... button to the right of the field and select COPY.
That will pre-populate the field with some text. Click directly on that text.
That will show you a pop up where you can choose the issue you want to copy from, and the field in that issue you want to copy from.
Pull down the "Issue to copy value from" field and choose either Epic or Parent. Then you can close the pop-up and do the same for the second field.
