Hi there
Does JIRA Server supports AzureAD integration?
And if yes..
- Does it matter on which platform JIRA Server runs?
- Is there an article regarding this topic?
Thanks and kind regards,
Michael
Hi @Michael Vils ,
You can connect AD/LDAP as user directory to JIRA Server but direct integration with Azure AD is not supported.
You can use SAML 2.0 protocol to connect your JIRA Server to Azure AD for SAML Single Sign-on where all the user information (profile and groups) will be updated in JIRA at the time of SSO and this would also allow you to manage users and their groups for JIRA directly from the Azure AD.
Please take a look at the SAML SSO plugin given below.
Docs to configure the plugin with Azure AD;

In case, if you need assistance with the setup, feel free to reach out to atlassiansupport@miniorange.com

Jira Server does not support AzureAD integration out of the box, but you can achieve a good integration through several Marketplace apps. I am not sure whether the tutorial and app mentioned above is maintained and supports the latest versions of Jira.
Full disclosure: I work for Kantega SSO, one of the top marketplace vendors. Our AzureAD integration guide is found here: https://docs.kantega.no/display/KA/Azure+AD . In addition to SAML SSO, we support Kerberos (giving users on trusted networks completely password free access to jira) and provide user synchronization features allowing to manage Jira user data and permission in AzureAD. You can evaluate our app for 90 days for free, and our support team happy to give our a demo and assist you with your setup.
Have a nice day!

Hello Michael,
Jira server does support LDAP and Active Directory. Along with this, if you're using AzureAD then you can use SAML authentication with SSO for Jira. This would allow you to manage access to Jira from AzureAD via SSO. Additional information on this may be found at Tutorial: Azure Active Directory integration with JIRA SAML SSO by Microsoft.
While using AzureAD it will not matter which platform Jira is currently on as long as it’s able to communicate with the SAML authentication to validate and authenticate the user.
Additional resources you may need are as follows:
I hope this information proves helpful and you’re able to get Jira connected to AzureAD.
