I have a couple of issue types which are no longer needed. Before I delete these, I need to move several issues with these types to another type, but cannot do this due to no components being present on the issues. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks.
I can't 100% tell what's happening here, but here's a few questions that might lead you to the right place:
Hi Alex,
Thanks for coming back to me. There are no components in the project where we are trying to move the issue types from or to. In the 'move' screen, components is greyed out so that we can't change this.
Hope this makes sense!

Hey, Sarah - does this bug report describe your issue?
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-26302
Could you try adding a temporary component to your project, add that component to the issue, then try changing the issue type again?

Hi Alex,
Yes, that describes the issue exactly!
I have tried adding a component to a project and this seems to work - the problem is that I have lots of projects affected so this is going to be quite a big job to add components to each one. I'll see if this is a worthwhile exercise!
Thanks.

You should be able to add/remove components in bulk, just like you would need to change the issue type for all of them. If possible, I would just add one component to the project, bulk add the component to all of the issues you want to change the issue type on, bulk change the issue type, then bulk remove the component (or just delete the component at the project level).
I think that should work for you, but I'm also assuming all of your issues are in a single project. :) Hope this solution works for you!

Thanks, I will have a go at this. It's not a single project affected though, it's about 20.
