Can LDAP integration from JIRA to AD use the GUID as the unique identifier instead of the name?

We have two separate users that have the same userid - say smithb.  The first B smith was terminated and their AD account has been deleted.  A year later, a new employee joins and is given the userid of smithb.  When JIRA synchronizes to AD, it recognizes the "new" user and the "old" user as the same user.  I'm assuming that JIRA synchronizes off of userid.  Can I synchronize off of ObjectGUID?

I've ran into this issue as well. I havent been able to resolve it. Let me know if you find a solution.
