My issues have a checkbox attribute that I was hoping to use as a filter in a Kanban board - searching around I've seen references to "Quick Filter" in the board configuration section, but can't see the option - is this not a "next-gen" feature? I was hoping to setup a quick filter that points to the attribute, to then filter issues.
I'm the Jira admin and have all privileges I think I'd need.
Thanks @Walter Buggenhout - I've just reached the same conclusion.
I was hoping that I could specify an attribute to filter on, clicking the filter would then give a drop down with the options behind attribute - this isn't functionality that Jira has (maybe one day...)

I can see the this is not possible: noticed that Quick Filters are a classic feature, i.e. "Company-managed software" whereas I'm using a "Team-managed software", and actually looks similar to custom filters... so not what I want either.
