Canned "texts" for the description field

Hello everyone,

We have recurring text blocks in our ticket descriptions in JIRA that we use again and again. Unfortunately, I don't see any ways to quickly insert such recurring texts into JIRA tickets.

Are there no internal solutions for that?

With addons, I have only found solutions to insert text blocks in ticket comments, but not in description fields. For example:

For example: We need to define new documents and we always need to add the following definition to the ticket description:

Name: [date]_XY.pdf
Name in dropdown: Document XY
Description: Document XY
Folder: Folder A / Folder B / Folder C Other
Visibility: Only visible internally / Visible externally
Optional: (where in the dropdown should the document be inserted)

I hope that I could explain what I mean.

Hey @Christopher Krause ,

Welcome to the community!

As mentioned earlier, there are a few related apps available on the Atlassian Marketplace.

Feel free to try out our Easy Issue Templates for Jira app by AppLiger. It lets you restore predefined Summary and Description values from saved issue templates. Plus, with Forms and Variables - users can dynamically select values while creating new issues, making the process even more efficient

Cheers,

Paul

Hi @Christopher Krause

You can try apps from the Marketplace: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?query=issue%20templates There are plenty of them available.

I recommend to try apps with the highest scoring. If you are looking for extension that looks like Jira-native solution, take a closer look at the Forge apps. It's hard to determine that but Issue Templates Agent is one of them.

Please keep in mind I represent vendor who created mentioned app.

Cheers,

Chris

Hi @Christopher Krause ,

with Templating.app you can pre-populate various fields, e.g. the description, summary, labels and so on.

Once configured, users don't have to do an additional step. Just click on the Create-Button in Jira and based on the template's configuration (e.g. matching project and issue type, but more conditions are possible as well) the text block will be inserted into the description.

Feel free to contact me in case of any questions --> seibert.biz/meetsarah

Cheers from Germany,

Sarah (Product Manager of Templating.app)
