Cloud JIRA - Data Storage

prasenna.kannan September 21, 2020 edited

Team,

As part of a compliance factor, the data which is getting stored in the JIRA should not be out of Australia.

Can Cloud JIRA version can be configured to contain the data within Australian region? Do we have granular control on that level? By default where does the data get stored in Cloud flavour?

Also, can the cloud version be configured to be accessed only inside the firewall?

Thanks,

Prasenna

Hi @prasenna.kannan - please read the manage data residency page.

You can view where your product content is hosted for products on Free, Standard, and Premium plans and move your product content for products on Enterprise plans.

Thanks @Kat Warner

I understand that Enterprise JIRA product facilitates to manage the data within EU \ US region and not in Australia.

That answers my question that we can't use Cloud version for our requirement, where we have to control the UGC to only Australian region and hence we have to go with the Server edition of JIRA.

Atlassian lists data locality as on of the reasons an organisation may choose Server/Data Center over Cloud on the page Compare Atlassian cloud vs server.

Hi @prasenna.kannan @Kat Warner , we recently announced that data residency will be included in our Standard and Premium cloud plans later this year. To learn more and sign up for updates, visit our page here

We also working on adding Australia as an additional geography to host your data this year. To keep track of timing for when this will be available, you can visit our cloud roadmap here.
