% Complete Plugin Recommendations

Hey Everyone,

I am migrating an MS Project plan into a Jira DC project and need a recommendation for a % Complete plugin to be used as a field parameter.

Since we don't log time in the Program, we would be manually updating the  % Complete at the task/sub-task level that would roll up.   Any ideas on the best approach to do this?

Hi @Terri Yeago

JXL for Jira is another app that you might like.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing (and where it makes sense, inline-editing) all your issue fields. It also allows viewing your issues in hierarchies (either Jira's built-in epic/story/sub-task hierarchy, or completely custom hierarchies and structures), and calculating sum-ups across these hierarchies.

This is how it looks in action:

Note that you can sum-up practically any field and use different kinds of progress sum-ups, e.g. based on story points or time estimates. (Disclaimer: I work on JXL :))

Hope this helps,

Best,

Hannes

@Hannes Obweger - JXL for Jira , thank you so much for the feedback! I think this would well with what we are trying to accomplish. I will need to get buy-in from my company to purchase it.  Do you know of a free plugin that we could use in the meantime?

That's great to hear @Terri Yeago I can't really think of a free app - but you can always trial JXL (and any other Marketplace app, for that matter) for free for one month. Maybe that's a way to unblock you?

Hi @Terri Yeago

For a readymade solution, you can try out our plugin

Agile Tools : Epic Tree, Links Tree, Time in Status & Worklogs

The app rolls up numeric custom fields up to the parent level.

Hi @Terri Yeago

i would recommend scriptrunner if you don’t already have it. Scriptrunner in many cases around custom fields is a one size fits all type plugin and very well supported by adaptivist.

I personally haven’t made a script for this but I have seen it done so I know it’s possible with scriptrunner but you would either need someone with Java/groovy experience or you can consult with adapativist themselves for this kind of work

there is also a library of scripts you can find here:

best,

clark
