Custom Field - Url option - set to 255 characters, can this be increased??

I have created a Customer Field called Test Script Link, and I want to add the url in to the spreadsheet, but the fields size is set to 255 characters. Can this size be increased, as my url is more than 255 characters. Please can anyone advise??? Thanks in Advance :-)

That is not possible at this time. There is an open change request to which you can add your vote.

The change request also suggests using a multiple line Text field as a work around.
