Custom field for colour

Can someone suggest custom field which can represent colours like red, green, yellow to show status of an issue.. I used traffic light signal custom field .. how do i see different colours in that... in configuration it asks for list where i added red, green, yellow as text.. bt how wud i see actual colours... if there is another custom field which can show colours please sugges...
