Aleksandar Colic October 31, 2024

Hi all,

I am trying to add custom filed on custom issue type only. However, when I add that filed it shows on another issue types as well. This is related to one project only.

Cheers,

Hello Aleksandar,

I believe your issue with a custom field being visible on unintended issue types is related to the field's configuration settings. To resolve this, please try the following steps:

  1. Go to Jira Settings > Issues > Custom fields
  2. Locate your custom field and click on it
  3. Select "Edit" next to "Contexts"
  4. Click "Add context" to create a new context specific to your project and custom issue type
  5. Set the project to your specific project
  6. Under "Issue types", select only your custom issue type
  7. Click "Add" to save the new context

This should restrict the visibility of your custom field to only the specified custom issue type within your project.

If you need further assistance, please provide more details about your Jira configuration and the specific custom field type you're using.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you need any additional help!

Best regards,
Eric

Hi @Aleksandar Colic

First, you should be creating the create, edit/view screens for your new issue type with your custom field.

Second, you need to apply these screens to the screen schemes and finally you need to create an issue type screen scheme, where you will define the scheme for your newly created issue type.

Also, you need to apply these changes to your project directly by adding this newly created issue type to your project.

Hi,

You can do it using context field

You can also use field configuration and field configuration scheme:

Configure a field configuration scheme | Atlassian Support
