Hi All!
I have recently upgrade jira from version 8.9 to 8.20.10. After upgrade when i tried to link jira with my existing external oracle database (type -10g version- 19c) which we were using with older version of jira. It gave me error like the database is not empty or already in use. Then I manually copied dbconfig.xml file in my jira-home directory and restarted my jira datacenter server. It started fine after that. But now I cannot see some issues and filters in Jira board. Can connecting jira database manually like this has caused this issue?
if yes! How can i connect database with this newer version to make this work. What should be the standard way.
any kind of suggestions are much appreciated!
thanks in advance! :)
Regards,
@Rashmi How did you upgrade Jira? If you run one of the installers it will upgrade the software and the database. If you upgraded the software manually but did not upgrade the database you will have issues. What steps did you take to perform the upgrade?
I see this error when i try to do database setup manually with my own oracle database-
You have specified a database that is not empty, please specify an empty database. If you want to upgrade an existing installation
I do not understand why they want empty database when I want to use same database which i was using with older version database is on version 19c which is compatible with version 8.20.10 of jira.

@Rashmi you are correct that will not get the results you want. I would suggest following the upgrade steps again. If you follow all the steps the DB would be upgrade on startup. https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/upgrading-jira-manual-938846939.html
