I would like to use the app xray but don't want to have all of the related issues (like tests) on the kanban board. I know how to exclude them by a quick filter. But then every team member needs to select this filter when opening the board. Is there a more convenient way to handle this? Despite setting a browser bookmark to the filtered board.
That's a great and detailed explanation - however if you follow the steps up until JQL, you click search and then save. By that it automatically updates the Board as you opened the Board's filter.
The Steps for "apply the filter to the board" are only relevant if you create a completely new filter to begin with. For that, make sure the Filter is shared with all relevant Viewers (usually at least the Project).

Thanks for your quick responses.
Just for clarification. This option is only available in company-managed projects, right?

I've created a filter, and I can apply it as a filter on the board. However, I don't have a 'General' tab to set that filter as default. Is that because I stupidly created 'Next Gen' project? Thanks.

Yes. Team Managed projects are designed to work independently only for one Team. Therefore the Board will always show all Issues in the project.
You can however show issues from Team Managed projects in a Company Managed (or personal) Board.

I am a JIRA Admin for my company. We have other JIRA software projects, Confluence, Service Management, etc. So I am at a loss as to why I can't just bang in a JQL filter for my board like I have been doing for what ... the past 12 years? There is 'dumbing down' and then there is completely hobbling the application. As a JIRA admin for my company, I don't see why I shouldn't be able to make my filter a default? JQL has always been a primary reason for using JIRA software, if it is being thrown out to satisfy some specific marketing group - then should I throw out Atlassian as well? I feel really let down by the company and its push towards catering for the intellectually challenged demographic.

You still can do all of those things in Company managed projects. There were no changes in functionality for these classic projects in that respect. Team managed (next Gen) are simply following a different philosophy. They are made for a single team that wants to manage their own config and therefore will not be able to share Boards with other Teams. It's a tradeoff.
If you're the Jira admin and will manage the project and likely more: Why don't you use a Company managed project. You can simply move the existing issues. If two projects share one Board I would assume they have at least some similarities and therefore can share some configs anyway?

I understand what you are saying. You are telling me to do more work ... by paying for a tool that is supposed to save time. I understand that Coles and Woolies are sticking it to me by making me bag my own groceries. This is no different. I do not want to spend more time administering Atlassian apps - that is the job of software developers - to save me time. So, given these facts 'Next Gen' is a total failure. Please sack that entire project team. Thank you.

I am not telling you anything apart from: Be nice. This is a community that is dedicated to helping each other. Everyone on here spends their own (free) time to provide answers.
Unless the tag next to the name says "Atlassian Team" we are all users like you. So if you want to provide product feedback I suggest opening a Request with the Atlassian support rather than having a rant at people who cannot change a thing about it.

HI
in company-managed project I created a my Kanban board. In the dropdown for the board filter I see only two filters from the admin but none of mine. Why can't I choose my own filters as a board filter? I think this was possible some weeks ago...
Working in the atlassian.net cloud.
Thanks for any help

@Renato Morell can you please open a new question rather than using this one as this is resolved already.
