Hello,
While the feature to reply to a comment and link it as chain looks nice and useful, recently I have lost such comments even when navigate within the page and edited something in the description. It looks like while adding a comment as new there is draft status, the chained one missing that. Is this the case or some account setting is missing? As mentioned I have lost quite a a few comments now and is really frustrating.
If indeed there are no drafts, there is one more time Jira makes things worst when trying to do something good.!!
I rather have the safety of the drafts than using the chained replies.
I just tested to add a reply to a comment without saving and navigated away (within the work item) I get a warning above the comment section and when clicking on it i can see the comment I was starting tor write.
Is this what you were looking for?
Best regards,
/Staffan
Hello Staffan,
I was referring replying on an existing comment, that will chain it to it instead of adding a new comment at the top of the comments section.
Apologies if it was not clear in my initial question

Christos

No problem @Christos Basdekis your question was clear and I thougt i tested replying to a comment. Now i realize that it was a in inital comment.
You were right twice: No it doesn't save drafts of replies, and Yes it's bad...

Thanks for confirming @Staffan Redelius .
I really thought I was missing some setting within my account or doing something wrong. It has been really frustrating losing comments like this. Before even having the drafts in the main comments, I used to write any comments first in notepad and copy/paste to jira. I guess back to the basics again :)

The reply to comments feature does not have drafts, and here is a suggestion to add that capability. You may watch / vote for it to see any progress:

Hello @Bill Sheboy
I have been searching for a while whether this has been reported already but to be honest I rarely get any meaningful results with Jira search. Not in this space but within my organisation projects, even if in the search box I put down 3/4 of the subject a ticket has!
Thank you for the link!
To be honest I would be surprised if this will be implemented this year.

Agreed, and...
There are several challenges noted in the original announcement thread for this feature. Specifically, there are now inconsistencies in how the public REST API endpoints for comments might handle reply-to-comments. Thus, I would not expect "drafts" to be added anytime soon.
