I am looking at adding Jira Cloud to a MS Teams channel, and have checked all the documentation and videos but can't find the answer to this specific question:
Does adding Jira Cloud for a particular MS Teams channel also activate notifications for the members of that channel? Or do I also have to ask each member to add the Jira Cloud app personally to have both access to the Jira tab and receive notifications/manage their notification settings?
Thanks to anyone who's figured this out and can advise!
Adding Jira Cloud to an MS Teams team or channel, does not activate notifications for members of that channel.
When you add the app to a team, it will post to the general channel and inform users that they can setup personal notifications if they choose.
Adding it to a Team will allow anyone in the Team/Channel to add or view a Jira Cloud tab.
Finally, we have functionality called 'channel notifications' where you can setup the add-on to send notifications to the channel where everyone can see when certain actions occur.
Ie) A tickets status is changed to 'done', a message can be sent to the channel.
If you are looking for everyone on your team to setup personal notifications, so they know when people are commenting or changing their tickets in some ways, they will have to install the bots in their 'personal scope' within Teams.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks,
Tony
Hi,
you can check the following procedure to have this available on Teams.
I've just tested it on my side and, yes, I confirm it works good.

Hi,
If you are using Advanced Microsoft Teams Jira Connector you need to configure global, project or personal notifications in Jira. By default the App does not send any notifications.
