Error message when submitting an issue using any Issue Collector Form

Robert Nordstrom December 28, 2018

We are n the cloud version of Jira and Confluence. I setup an issue collector on 3 different project with no success. I'm able to create a bug issue fine via Jira but when I embed the issue collector in our comnfluence or html editor, I'm able to complete any of the issue collector forms. However, when I click the submit buttong i receive the following error

In my last attempt to get this to work, I create a test project and stripped all unneeded field, reduced the permissions and security level and still I cannot get it to work. When I review the issue collector errors, the error is insufffient to lead me to the cause of the problem.

My best guess at this point is that the required security level is causing this to fail when submitted. Can anyone provide some guidance?

UPDATE:

After creating a test project and finally stripping if to the bones and rebuilding it, I can tell you two things you need to be on the lookout for is implementing from the Jira Cloud version.

  1. There can be no required field in you field scheme. Even if you have removed all of the field that are required. Create a new Field Scheme in which every field is optional except Summary and Issue type. All others must be optional
  2. When setting up the issue collector, if you select the Collect browser info option,2018-12-28_17-04-49.png then you cannot have the Environment field hidden. You do not have to display it in the selected custom or canned form.

Glad we were able to figure this out ourselves. Hope this saves someone some time in the future as they set up an issue collector. A liitle bit under documented. Though a nice feature to have regardless.

Thank you! Bug source is a required field in my project, and once I added it to the issue collector it finally worked.
