Excel version and importing .csv into Jira

CostaM February 4, 2022 edited

Good day

Are there any known bugs with Jira where only certain versions of Excel allow a successful import?

I have encountered issues (as well as some of our Jira Users) where the import of an Excel .csv file fails, and yet when my colleague uses the same file, their import works successfully.

We are running Jira v 8.11.1

In my example, my version of Excel is v 2102 and my colleagues is v 2008.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

thanks

Once you export your data from Excel into a .csv it no longer is considered associated to an Excel version or even Excel at all.  It is a simple text file.  Can you provide the errors you are getting when it says it fails?

Hi Dan, thanks, it fails at the point where you map the fields to the corresponding fields in Jira, ie it appears that the columns are not separated and all appear in 1 cell. e.g. if there were 12 fields to be imported, Jira see's it as only one cell.

Thanks
