Hide and / or collapse a specific field in JIRA Task

We would like to hide / at least collapse a text field which is quite long so it is not taking so much space of the task when the owner getting the task automatically assigned.
THe Workflow has several status - the task is created automatically based on schedule and copied from the epic (incl. the text field which we would like to hide).

What type of project does this concern? Get that information by clicking the ... button to the right of the project name in the left side panel.

There is no native option to collapse a text/paragraph field in the Jira UI.

What is the relevance of wanting to do this "when when the owner getting the task automatically assigned"? Is there another time when the users should be seeing the field?

If you are working with a Company Managed project you could potentially move the field to a secondary tab so that a user must navigate to the tab to see the field contents. Note that it is not possible to group fields in Tabs in Team Managed projects.

Jira does not natively have capabilities to hide fields from view based on conditions. There are third party apps, such as ScriptRunner by Adaptavist, that do provide such functionality. Do you already have that app in your environment, or would you consider getting it?
