How can I hide a comment on a screen?

I see https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-12244, which was closed with the enigmatic hint

I don't understand exactly how to hide a comment. How to I configure the screen? How do I get it work for transition screens?

Hi Paul,

Yes, you can edit the Field Configuration that is associated with a given screen and remove the comment field from there. For more details, take a look at the documentation on https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Configuring+Fields+and+Screens
