How do I add instruction for a custom field in one project to a custom field used by many projects?

We have an End Date custom field that is used by many projects. We have one project that we need to add instruction so the user knows how to setup the date. We don't want to have the instruction for the one project on all the other projects, so we can't use the description of the custom field to add the instructions.

You can change the description of the field if you go to the field configuration used by the project. The description in the field configuration will override the one set under custom fields.

If the project is using the default one, just make a copy of it and then change the description. Once done you need to associate the project with this new field configuration. See Specifying field behavior for more information.
