How do I add text (not unsecure html but Jira markup) to a dashboard?

Our IT team, rightfully so, has banned the JIRA "Text" Gadget and I would like to insert composed commentary into our JIRA Dashboards.

You cannot. There is no 'wiki text' gadget far as I know, beyond the Introduction gadget.

If you have Confluence, you can use the Confluence Page gadget to include arbitrary content.
