How do I write rules for Linked Issues?

Richard Norling March 6, 2018

Hi,

I've been twisting my head for a while trying to figure out how to write these rules.

  • When Issue is transitioned from "Blocked" -> "Backlog"
Then go through every Linked Issue with link type "Is Blocking"
Then also transition those issues to "Backlog" if nothing more is blocking them
  • When Issue is transition to "Completed"
Then go through every Linked Issue with link type "Caused"
Then also transition issues with type "Bug" to "Completed

Is it possible to write this? I'm guessing there needs to be some JQL, but I do not know.

Br,
Richard

Hi @Richard Norling, this is not possible with Jira alone. You would definitely need an add-on to realize this. Something like Scriptrunner or Jira Misc Workflow Extensions.

Depending on the add-on you need to write a few bits of code, and JQL maybe needed too. ;)

Richard, hi!

You need a script.

The simplest way to use it - use scriptRunner plugin. Namely you need a script postfunction.

Best regards,

Vasiliy
