How to Jira Cloud for Excel export when it's messing the tickets between differents projects?

marcel tchamba December 18, 2023

Hi there,

I am actually following up four projects on Jira. And, when exporting the tickets, it is a bit messy:

  • some tickets are under the right projects when others are not and some tickets are not even linked to a project,
  • some tickets have subtasks linked to them in the export while some do not but, in Jira, it is different.

It is requesting a prior check each time before analysis and it is really time consumming so, I hope someone can have an idea of how to fix it.

Thanks

Hi @marcel tchamba

for point 1, when you say some tickets are not under the right project....is the excel data matching the data you see in Jira interface?

also you mentioned some ticket are not even linked to a project, technically this is not possible because any ticket must be created under project so it would be great if you can elaborate a bit more please

point2, to help you on this i would need to see some screenshots at least from the excel for the parent task that has subtasks linked to it in excel and another screenshot for the parent ticket from Jira

generally speaking, if you are after extracting excel file then the key would be to work on your JQL query to get exact tickets you are after either to have it project based or using any other field that will limit your results and that should help to have less data to work with in excel and less confusion.
