We are migrating Requirement artifacts from another system into Jira. We have found over a thousand artifacts have the text description field larger than 32k. It would be manually intensive for the business to visit and refactor these requirements to split them up and this can't likely be done within the project's timeline.
How can we assess the performance impact of changing the jira.text.field.character.limit to 64 or even 128k?
Are there any existing data center folks out there that have increased this limit? How high did you set it and what did you notice?
The fact that jira cloud does not allow users (admins) to change this setting tells me Atlassian is concerned with the potential impact of increasing this value
My management is looking a better answer than gut feel and roll the dice.
We have about 7K users and 1.3 million issues.
