How to automatically assign version to new issue, created in Kanban board?

Stas Oskin May 21, 2014

When creating new issue in the Kanban board, if the version not specified, the ticket will not be displayed which is very confusing.

Is there a way for current board version to be auto-assigned?

A better suggestion would be to make the Version field required, and limit the number of available values to chose from to only display the values that will appear on the Kanban board. This way, when an issue is created from anywhere, including a Kanban board, it will not allow you to create an issue without first setting the version field.

Here's a link to some doc on how to accomplish this:

I would advise against doing more than this, because then you'd have to maintain which version is chosen as the default value for the Version field; if your company is anything like the other software developers I've worked for, that might not be a great solution as version numbers/names change more than infrequently.
