How to automatically populate formatted text template when a new task is being created?

Hi all,

Maybe you can help me with finding the way how to automatically populate some formatted text template in Description field when a new task is being created in Jira cloud instance?

Purpose: when creating a new task in Jira, I need to fill up the standard Description field with a default formatted structure, like 'Purpose', 'Steps', 'Responsible People' etc. to be further completed by an author.

If you are using Jira Cloud and next-gen projects it is possible to set a default value for Description, and according to the request @Randy linked to they are looking into adding this to classic projects.

You can watch and vote for these feature request tickets in the atlassian jira.  Don't hold your breath though, they have been around since 2004 :p
