How to bulk change linked issue from 'relates to' to 'implements'

Hi,

We set Jira issues as linked to Jira Product Discovery tickets as 'relates to' but now realize it should have been 'implements'.

Example difference:

Is there a way to bulk change all jira issues that are related to a Jira product discovery issue (RDP-*) to be linked as 'implements' rather than 'relates to'?

Hi @Roeland Schoppers

this is a tricky one; I'm not aware of built-in way to do so, but I could imagine that it would be doable using Jira Automation somehow. Someone would have to lean in for the details though.

This being said, if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, this would be possible using the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields - including your issue's issue links - much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also supports bulk editing via copy/paste; within JXL, but also between JXL and pretty much any other app.

What you could do now is to copy your issue links from JXL to e.g. Excel or Google Sheets, change the issue link type there using search and replace, and paste the updated issue links back to JXL, like so:

Here I'm changing "blocks" to "causes", but it would work with any other types as well.

(I should add that JXL can do much more than that: From support for configurable issue hierarchies, to issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.)

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes
