How to change Rag Status Rationale from short text to paragraph

I would like to change the rag status rational in projects (epic) from short text to long text to allow for more reporting capabilities.

Once you created a custom field you cannot change the field type, so you only option is to create a new field to replace the existing one.

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

It is not possible to change the Type of a field. You must create a new custom field of the required type. You can then move the data from the original field to the new field, and then consider removing the original field.

Consider that you will need to update screens to include the new field, and update filters that reference the original field.
