in Jira cloud, in both team-managed and company-managed projects I need to change the card background color of a card, how can I do so?
Hello @Mariana ,
Good day! :)
We do not have a way to change the background colour of the cards on a board. We can configure card colours on issue types, priorities, assignees, or JQL and the colours display as a thin strip on the left-side of the cards on the board.
To add colour on the board:
Navigate to your company-managed software project. ( The card color is a company-managed project only feature )
Select Active sprints(if you use a Scrum board) or Kanban board (if you use a Kanban board )
Select More -> Configure Board
Select Card Colors and Select method from the drop-down.
Select the square in the Color column, and pick a color for the issue type, priority, assignee, or query. You can switch between methods, and your settings will be retained.
However, we do have an option to add background image to our cards on board on both company managed and team managed projects
To add or change an issue’s cover image on the board ( Company-managed )
Hover over an issue.
Select ••• (more) on the issue.
Select Edit cover image.
Upload an image or select an image you’ve already uploaded as an attachment.
Once you upload an image as a cover image, it will also become an attachment to the issue.
For team-managed, you can navigate to your team-managed board -> project settings -> Board -> card cover Images -> enable the card cover images option and refer to the same steps above to change the cover image.
We also have a ongoing feature request to have full background colours in boards
Thank you!
Hello @Mariana
Thank you for reaching out to the community.
At this time, Jira Cloud does not offer a feature to completely change the background of a card. However, we have submitted a feature request for this capability. You can find more information at the link below:
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-91109
I encourage you to add yourself as a watcher and cast your vote for this request.
Thank you!
