How to customize group by component in structure

I have structure which has list of stories, few belongs to component A, few to component A and B, and some more to Component A, B and C.

Is there a way i can group specific to component because when i select group by filter it shows all the combinations of components and groups it. How do I limit it to only one particular component.

Hi Praveen,

Could you please elaborate more, perhaps using a screenshot of the behavior you are encountering and would like to change.

Awaiting your return,

Cheers,

Karim

@Parveen Taj No worries, Parveen. As @David Niro indicated that this is a feature they are currently considering in their backlog, I could meanwhile propose an alternative using JIRA Native features to achieve your structure.

This solution will be easy to implement if you have few components.

Steps

  1. Create a Kanban board for your Stories

  2. From the board settings configure Swimlanes to group your stories using Queries

  3. Back to your board, you will find that all stories have been categorized according to the components.

Pro-Tips

  1. If a story belongs to Component A and B for example, it will appear only in one lane.
  2. If your Queries' order is Component A, B and C. the example story will appear in component A lane.
  3. You can combine Swimlanes with quick filters for further analysis and tuning the order of your queries.

Cheers,

Karim

Hi @Karim ABO HASHISH !  I believe that @Parveen Taj may be using our product, Structure - Flexible Jira Project Management.

@Parveen Taj , if I have this right, it is not possible to do at the moment.  However, we do have a feature in our backlog that would allow us to do something like this in the future.  Please let me know if you are referring to Structure and I will add your vote to the task.

Best,
David
