Andrew July 13, 2012

I am a Jira administrator, there are five projects in my jira . Now my manager want to me divide a project to three projects according to different company, because three companies issue in one project ,so I think whether export one project to XML or Excel ,then I edit the XML or Exel ,divide a XML or Excel to three files ,finaly I import the three files into Jira become three projects .

I don't know whether the method of deal with this problem is the best ,if not ,please teach me better method.

If I use the method, the question is how to export a project to XML or EXCEL ?

You can do either by using the export/view options in the issue navigator.

However, you'll lose some of the issue hirstory if you do that. It would be FAR more simple to create two new projects and bulk-move the issues out of the current project into the new projects as appropriate.
