Hi all,
I'm in the process om migrating (via CSV) an old JIRA project into a new environment.
I have received a CSV extract of the old project.
My problem is that the formatting gets stripped out of the Description field.
Is there a way to keep formatting as is?
I really don't want to manually update 400 issues...
Thanks in advance,
R.
Hello @Rudolph Dreyer ,
Welcome to the Community!
Could you please share what formatting challenges are you facing, an example would be great to have.
Looking forward to hearing back.
Hi Himanshi,
The problem is that the formatting within the CSV file gets stripped when I import the issues.

Whenever I encounter such an issue, I make sure to export a clean CSV file from the source system. Then, I use a simple text editor like VS Code to open the file and ensure that the document's formatting remains intact. Try that with one single line in the CSV so you can control the parameters to spot whether your CSV is working as expected.

I believe your problem is related to the bug on https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-46365
Please review it and possibly try workaround number #1 mentioned in the bug report - it seems to have helped other people experiencing the same unexpected behavior.
Let us know how it goes after testing.
Regards,
- Pablo

Hi Pablo, thank you for this.
This is definitely the issue I'm dealing with.
The proposed resolution unfortunately does not work in my case. :(
