After upgrading from JIRA 6.x to 7.1 we notice that when creating a subtask, the component is no longer inherited from the parent issue. This used to be the case in the 6.x version.
How can we configure the component to be filled with the value in the parent ticket?
I looked into adding a Post Function (like 'Copy values', or 'Inherit values') to the Create Issue Transition, but there is no such function available.
There is an 'Update Issue Field' Function, but it doesn't provide an option for the Component Issue field.
We're on JIRA Software 7.1.0 and JIRA Core 7.1.0
The problem has been reported to Atlassian:
Thanks Adam.
For now we've fixed it by using JIRA Suite Utilities.

I guess you need an add-on (like JIRA Misc Workflow Extension or Scriptrunner) to set this field from parent field value.

Thanks, we've been using that for a while now and it works fine.
