How to limit a user to specific issue types?

rcraig May 20, 2024

We're working in a Team-managed project.  We would like to provide non-engineering contributors with the ability to create Defect and User Stories, but not other issue types.

The 'roles' functions provides some activity restrictions, but does not limit by issueType.

I don't see an intuitive method to implement this restriction; any ideas?

@rcraig  how are you ?

You can use validators by role to restrict some project role, however this will impact your users.

The another way is to use "Collectors" to set only a specific issuetype.

Hi Craig - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

The only other option I could add is to create a separate project for them with the limited issue types. Then create an automation rule to clone the issues into your existing project.
