How to rename system field

Marc Demhartner November 28, 2017

Hello,

we´re using Jira 7.6.0 in a self-hosted enviroment. We currently have the issue how to rename a system field.

For example i want to rename:

  • Project -> Customer
  • Component -> Project
  • Summary -> Title

We tried to edit these in the bundled file: jira-languages-7.6.0-en_US.jar which gives us extracted the file: JiraWebActionSupport_en_US.properties

but we don´t find any matching field there. Could you please help us?

We tried to follow the FAQ: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/renaming-system-fields-in-jira-278692006.html

Hi,

You can't rename system fields.

And while you can create custom fields for some things, every issue must have a Project and a Summary.

Don't try editing this in code. This is way too integrated into other things. I would recommend against following that KB article you linked to.
