Before we adopted data center Jira, I used index recoveries occasionally; they were much faster than even background rebuilds. Today I ran a full-rebuild of the index in our data center Jira; it took 4,252 seconds, which is about an hour and ten minutes. While I was in there, I saw the index snapshot settings and I realized I hadn't used one since adopting DC and wondered if they have any use anymore.
Has anyone out there thought about this? Are index snapshots still useful in a data center installation? I suppose getting even a partial index back in service in a few minutes instead of 4,200 seconds has some worth.
Thanks!
Mike
