We still have a Single Server Version running and waiting for the Data Server Licence.
I was told it would be easier to install the new Data Center and then migrate from Single Server. But for this option it would be neccessary to buy a (migration) tool.
So my question is simple, is it possible to upgrade with no further costs?
And are there any information available?
Thank you!
Best regards from Vienna, Austria
David. B
Hey @David ,
I wonder where that information is coming from.
If you wish to change your existing Server version to a Single node Datacenter version it "should" be as easy as changing over your license key.
No migration tool is needed.
You will need to do some checks and validate that any apps are available on a DC license too but most of it should be straight forward.
More information can be found here

If you are moving to a Clustered (multiple nodes) then there are few extra steps needed (configuration) but those are also outlined in the articles.
Just as a quick note - the "put a DC licence on a Server and it's a node" upgrade only really applies for Jira 8.3 and above (from memory, version might not be quite right. If you're on 8.5+ though, you're definitely fine, I flipped an 8.5 the other day with just a licence change).

Hi @Dirk Ronsmans !
Thank you for your reply. Meanwhile I've talked to the admins and they agreed to your lines. There is a plan to migrate two Jira's and for some reason it seems to be easier starting from scratch and migrate each project.
