Hi, as I am exploring more and working with JIRA, I have been facing this challenge to keep a track of progress of each task after the work begins.
Normally a spreadsheet is maintained to record completion in percentage on a different platform. But it would be great if we can integrate that. Is there any tool available that can do the same in JIRA?
hi @rutu.purohit
You can use the original estimate and time tracking fields to have such functionality.
Check the below example
Pro-Tip When you set the original estimate for the first time, it will reflect in the Time Tracking remaining estimate but if you modify it later, it will not reflect, and you will have to modify the remaining estimate manually
Cheers,
Karim
This is great. Thanks a lot for your guidance and tips.

Here is how can you update or delete a worklog
For Project users, they need to be granted the permissions to log and edit their worklog. Make sure that they have the right permissions. (Check below)

Hello,
As much as I like @Karim ABO HASHISH approach, I'd like to offer a different one, more concentrated on what's done and less on how much time of the original estimate has passed.
If you're ok with using a third-party app, I imagine this is possible with most of those that provide checklist functionality.
I know for sure it's possible with our Issue Checklist for Jira (both Free and Pro), which uses a custom field called Checklist Progress %.
Imagine you have a task, and it can be divided into 4 smaller tasks. Instead of creating sub-tasks, you add those as items on your checklist, and then add the "Checklist Progress %" field to your kanban board, so it is displayed on cards.
With this, you can see at a glance how much progress is done regarding each of the tasks.
If you're interested, please take a look at our documentation.
Cheers!

thanks for your suggestion, but I have a question here:
if Checklist for Jira app is enabling us to breakdown task without needing to create sub-tasks, then how do we assign each task to different person? because we usually create sub-tasks to do so.

Checklist for Jira supports user mentions inside the checklist items - you can use that feature as assignee, especially since there's an assigned items page and a dashboard gadget "Assigned checklist items".
Checklist for Jira Pro and Enterprise support sending email notifications when someone is mentioned in a checklist item.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.
Cheers!
