Issue type not showing in backlog

Charlotte Watson July 8, 2025

Hi, I have created a new company managed project whereby I am trying to view items from other company managed projects in this projects backlog. The issue is, I am seemingly unable to get a specific issue type to show.

The issue type I am having trouble with is 'Story' however it is part of a custom work type scheme that I created, as the standard hierarchy in Jira didn't allow me to utilise the 'Project> Feature> User story> Sub task' hierarchy that I wanted. I have already set this project to use the dedicated workflow scheme, work type scheme and and screen scheme I created for this, in the project settings.

What I have done so far:

1: I have created a filter that includes stories (I have also tried removing this completely and they still don't show)

2: I have mapped the statuses to the first column in the board settings, specifically putting a story into this status to test. In this case I have mapped the status 'analyse' and set the story to 'analyse'. It shows there is one item that matches these criteria.

3: I set a story to the status 'Analyse'. I have double checked that the project that this story is located in is also included in my filter.

Yet, when I go to the project backlog, there are only tasks present, and no stories. Certainly nothing in analyse despite 1 matching work item when viewing board configuration settings. Jira 4.png

I have exhausted the existing queries on the forums and have hit a dead end.

Would appreciate any help!

EDIT: Finally found an answer- This just won't work for me because I have a custom hierarchy in place. I have set it up to have Epic> Feature>Story rather than the standard Epic>Story> Subtask.
There is a bug raised for this which I am following in the hopes that it gets resolved!  https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-91947
