We have more than 1000 Jira projects. Do we have any way using which we can add a new Jira "Issue type" for all projects from a central location (admin type UI) ?
We want an easy process to do so from a central location.
You don't add the new issue type to projects directly, you add it to the "Issue Type Scheme" that the project is using. So if a lot of your projects are using shared Issue Type Schemes then you can achieve this easily.
No most projects are using different Issue Types templates. That is the main problem. Do you know a way to update all templates centrally?

or best way to do this which can minimize effort ? this problem is because of
each team has open choice on how they set up their project and what fields they provide.

There is no way to update multiple issue type schemes simultaneously via the UI. You may be able to do this by updating the database directly, but I wouldn't advise that unless you really know what you are doing,

Actually looking for a way to create Jira issue in each user's project Jira queue. Problem is that the team has their mandatory fields in different issue types so ticket creation gets failed often. Either we have to coordinate with each project owner to get values of mandatory fields, which is problematic.
so need to way to raise a ticket in different project Jira queues even without coordinating with different project owners.
A governance type of thing that can be applied to all Jira queues and we can control them centrally.
By the way thanks for quick response :)

HI Pete , 1 last question . Do you think using JIRA rest API rather touching DB , will also ease things ? Also if i create such issue type in each "issye type schema" , can admin control it centrally so that no user can change this new issue type" except admin itself ?

Yes I'm sure you could use the API to get a list of all issue type schemes and add the new issue type to them. But sorry I can't help you with how to do that.
