JIRA project with no workflow

I have a team that is looking to use Greenhopper and JIRA. They do not want any workflow. Is that possible? In essence, they want to be able to use the Rapid Board and drag and drop the card to any column. Typically, in a project you can drag and drop to columns for which the transition is defined.

Not really - if you simply set a project to "no workflow scheme", then it'll have the default Jira workflow. To get what you need there, all you really need to do is set up a workflow which has enough status/steps in it to do GH column maps, and transtions between all of them
