Maintaining comment body format when sending an email via Jira Automation

I'm building an automation that pulls a specific comment from the trigger issue and copy it into the body of a custom email. 

I would like for the email to display the information on separate lines like the comment. 

I will attach pictures of the comment that is being copied, the automation/email body syntax, and the resulting email. 

Atlassian docs and existing support articles haven't proved to have answers to this specific problem, so any guidance is appreciated!

@rpatrick, I just tested this on my environment. It looks like it's retaining the line breaks for me. 

Do you have the box checked underneath the "Send email" action to convert line breaks to HTML line breaks?

Can you share a screenshot of where that checkbox is? I'm not seeing any checkboxes, only a dropdown to select the content format (I'm using rich text as HTML doesn't retain any line breaks).

Ah I see, I was using "Send customized email" rather than "Send email". Thank you!
