We currently have a user Directory in Crowd in Jira and Confluence and we want to migrate those users to Microsoft AD.
There are 2 issues here that I am trying to work out:
1. How can we migrate the users but ensure that they retain the same data - for example, issues assigned etc. In our test instance, I created the new directory with a sample user who has the same username in both Crowd and AD. I put the AD at the top of the User Directory list so that it prioritised that user. But it simply removed the user from the Crowd directory and created a new user from the AD directory, which has no relation to the removed one and did not retain any issue data.
2. How can we ensure that the permissions that are handled with groups via Crowd are retained? For example, if I had a group in Crowd called 'project-contributers' for managing access in various parts of Jira like projects, dashboards. If I was to move the users to AD and this group was lost, would creating a group in AD with the same name match up to the locations of where that original group was configured, or would it wipe everything? Any suggestions on how group managed access can be retained when migrating to another directoy?
Thanks.
