Need guidance on setting up DORA metrics for teams using JIRA

Bhuvaneswari Vasudevan October 20, 2025

I'm exploring ways to setup Jira Project to ensure DORA metrics can be reported based on  the way fields are setup in Jira.

Do we have  readily available add-on that can report on the DORA metrics?

Teams will be using GitHub primarily for repo.

Interested in case study or use cases related to DORA metrics implementation in Jira

Hey @Bhuvaneswari Vasudevan

In my opinion if your teams use Jira for issue tracking and GitHub for repositories, you can measure DORA metrics (Deployment Frequency, Lead Time for Changes, Change Failure Rate, and Mean Time to Restore) using two main approaches:

 Solution 1: Atlassian Compass

Atlassian Compass is a native Atlassian product designed to give visibility into your software components and their health. One of its biggest advantages is that it automatically tracks DORA metrics when you connect GitHub and your CI/CD pipelines. This means you get Deployment Frequency and Lead Time without manual setup, and with integrations like OpsGenie or PagerDuty, you can also track MTTR and Change Failure Rate. The pros: seamless integration with Jira and other Atlassian tools, minimal configuration, and a clean UI for metrics. The cons: it’s still evolving, so advanced customization and historical trend analysis are limited compared to specialized analytics platforms.

Solution 2: Flow by ConnectALL (Marketplace App)

Flow by ConnectALL is a marketplace app focused on both DORA and Flow metrics, giving you a broader view of your delivery pipeline. It integrates with Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and GitHub, and provides real-time dashboards for deployment frequency, lead time, and more. The pros: advanced analytics, value stream visibility, and customizable dashboards. The cons: setup is more involved than Compass, and it’s a paid solution, so cost might be a factor for smaller teams.

Compass is best for teams already in the Atlassian ecosystem who want simplicity and native integration. Flow by ConnectALL is ideal for teams that need deeper analytics and visibility across the entire value stream.

 Hope this helps!
