Newly created Jira API token works initially but doesn't persist in the field where it was entered

Florence Fox September 15, 2025

I created a new Jira API token which works ... but the field where it's entered is blank when I reopen the application where I'm using it.

Hi @Florence Fox

Welcome to Atlassian community and thank you for your question.

I'm not sure to understand your question. Jira API token when generated from personal account settings is showed only one time and the user should save it in appropriate way.

In which application are you entering the token? You mean an app of marketplace or an external tool? As I can understand, it the token is not saved in the application, it depends to application itself

Regards

Hey @Matteo Vecchiato -

I'm using an automation tool that integrates with Jira and have been successfully using a Jira API token I created a long time ago.

I’m setting up a new machine but can’t find where I copied that token, so I created a new one.

I can connect to Jira with the new token, but when I close and reopen the automation tool, the field where I put the Jira API token is blank.

Hi @Florence Fox ,

I thinks it is nothing to do with Jira, it depends to the tool you are using

I think so too and contacted the vendor for the automation tool. They are investigating. Thanks
