Hi !

To create a project, you can eather use a shared configuration (from another existing project) or, you can create it from scratch and fully customize it.

  1. Log in to your Jira account: Go to the Jira website and enter your login to access your account.
  2. Access the Jira dashboard: Once you're logged in, you will land on the Jira dashboard. This is the main page where you can manage your projects.
  3. Click on "Create" button: you will find it on the top menu bar. Click on it to start the project creation process.
  4. Select project type: Jira offers different project types based on the nature of your work. Choose the appropriate project type that suits your requirements. Some common project types include Scrum, Kanban, and Basic software development.
  5. Fill in project details (project name, key, description, and project lead). The project key is a unique identifier for your project, so choose a meaningful key.
  6. Configure project permissions: Set up the permissions for your project. Define who can view, edit, and manage the project. You can either use the default permission scheme or create a new one based on your specific needs.
  7. Choose project template: Jira provides project templates that come preconfigured with boards, workflows, and settings. Select a template that aligns with your project requirements or choose to start from scratch.
  8. Configure project components (optional): If your project requires further organization, you can create components to group issues. For example, if you're developing a software application, components could be modules or features.
  9. Review and create the project: Double-check all the project details you have provided. Once you are satisfied, click on the "Create" button to create your project.
  10. Customize project settings (optional): After creating the project, you can further customize its settings based on your preferences. This includes configuring workflows, creating custom fields, and adding project-specific settings.

    To do so :

Click on the cog on the top right of your screen and select "Issue".
You will land on the configuration page :

Then, I would advise you to start in the order from the top, by configuring your issue types first, then to link them with the issue type scheme. After that, you can create your screens, screens schemes, and fill them with fields :) Basically, you can follow the order, but you will choose the most confort option for you. You can also start with the workflows and workflow schemes.

A good thing to do is to choose a naming convention in all your projects to remain coherent.

You can visualize your global settings from the Summary page (directly on the project settings).

Good luck !

Hi @JiraDev Digital Surf  - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Creating a new project will create the schemes automatically for you. You can create a project from scratch and it will create new unique schemes for that project. Or you can create a project based on an existing project and the new project will inherit the schemes of the existing project.

Thanks a lot.
