Previous Sprint Velocity Points Change

We're documenting our Velocity numbers in a report and during our previous sprint I had it noted as one number, but now the number has since changed.  I'm thinking an issue had a points change that was accounted for in the original calculation of the velocity between the time I documented it and now.  I don't agree with this process, as historical data should not update.  Has anyone else experienced this?
