Add user from different atlassian subscription without using up licence

Jennifer Gardner April 17, 2019

Hi,

Is it possible to invite a user to access/contribute to Jira and Confluence without using up a licence?

To put some context around it, I am working with a team from another company and they want to add myself to their Atlassian without using up a licence. I already have a Jira account and licence in the company I work for, can this be used?

Thanks

Jennifer

I am not an expert and have only used the Cloud versions of Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket, but i believe the answer is no. Atlassian licenses are allocated and used on a per instance basis. having only used Cloud the Server version could be different in some way, but I doubt it.

For example I have access to three different Cloud instances of Jira and Confluence. A 500 license Production instance, a 10 license Test and a free 5 license developer instance. I have a single Atlassian Account that has access to all three instances and it uses up one license in each instance.
